Swimming Career - Officiating

Completed the Time Keeping and Judging course in 1986.

Officiated as Time Keeper, Stroke Judge, Starter and Referee since 1986 to Singapore Amateur Swimming Association(SASA now SSA) and most of the Swimming meets held by SAFSA.
Appointed as Swimming Technical Advisor to the Republic Singapore Navy(RSN) in 1989





Appointed as Swimming Technical Advisor to Singapore Arm Forces Sports Association(SAFSA) in 1992. He then improved the officiating standard to near regional meet. He also groom a group of qualified Swimming Technical Officials under the umbrella of SAFSA









Appointed as one of the Starter in SEA Games in 1993








Completed the IOC Sports Administration Programme on 23 May 01











Listed in FINA List 12 as Starter in 2003









Attended FINA REFEREE Clinic in Bangkok, THAILAND in 2004

Appointed Chairman Technical Swimming Committee(TSC) of Singapore Swimming Association(SSA) in Jul 2004. He introduced and set up 4 main Groups namely, Education, Facility, Grading and Professionalism to administer the needs of TSC. Standard Group was included in 2005 to ensure consistency in the officiating procedures for SSA.

Lead the TSC to run the inaugurated Singapore National Swimming Championship(SNSC) at the Singapore Sports School(SSS). The SNSC has raised the bar of SSA in Officiating to a new height with the new acquisition of new Timing System.

Officiated as Judge in the 11th FINA World Championships in Montreal, CANADA 2005

Spearheaded the TSC to organise the 1st Seminar and Appreciation Night to recognise all the long service Technical Officials in SSA. 26 Technical Officials received their long service awards from Mr Chua Thian Poh President Singapore Swimming on 13 Jan 06.

Appointed Meet Director of the ASIAN Swimming Championships(ASC) in 2006. The first to be held in Singapore







Attended FINA World Swimming Official Seminar in 2006










Officiated as one of the Referee in the ASIAN Games in Doha, QATAR in 2006

Listed in the FINA List 14 as Referee in 2007

Shared the TSC structure and Technical experience at Guangzhou during the CHINA National Swimming Meet May 07.

Mentored the 31st SEA Age Group Swimming Championships which was hosted by Singapore from 1 to 3 Jun 2007. The "Over the Top" was introduced to reduce the running hours, the introduction received positive feed backs praise from all the participating teams.






Assisted SSA to acquire a new portable bulkhead in preparation of Swimming World Cup(SWC) 07.







Officiated as one of the Referee in the World Universiade Games in Bangkok, THAILAND in 2007








Appointed Technical Chairman and Meet Director for the Swimming World Cup(SWC) 2007 the first International Swimming Event hosted by Singapore. The Team achieved "World Class" status in Officiating.



Conducted Technical Official Clinic at Bandung, INDONESIA 2007






Received Long Service Award (20 years) from Mr Jeffrey Leow, President of SSA in 2008






Awarded SSA Best Technical Official during the SSA Appreciation Night on 6 Apr 2008






Shared and conducted Swimming Technical Official Workshop at ZhengHua, TAIWAN in 2008

Officiated as Judge for the 26th Olympic Games at Beijing, CHINA in 2008

 
 Mentored the 2nd Swimming World Cup 2008 in Singapore. Singapore was commented for "Officiating of high level" by Mr Soren, FINA Delegate - Technical for SWC

Appointed as Competition Manager AYG for Swimming on 13 Feb 09

Conducted FINA Development Programme for Swimming Federation of INDIA from 23 -27 Aug 09.

Officiated as Referee during the 21 Deaflympic from 7 to 13 Sep 09 in TAIWAN.

 

Conducted FINA Clinic for VASA in preparation for the ASIAN Indoor Games at Hanoi from 27 to 31 Oct 09

Lead and Mentor the Technical Team SWC 09 on 21 & 21 Nov 09, the first time Singapore Hosting the Final leg in the SWC series.

Conducted FINA Development Programme for Nepal at Kathmandu from 18 to 22 Apr 2010.

He was appointed the Competition Manager Swimming for the inaugural 1st Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore from 14-24 Aug 2010

Relinquished Chairman TSC, SSA on 12 Feb 2011.

Officiated in the 19th Commonwealth Games at New Delhi from 3 to 10 Oct 2010

Officiated as one of the judge for the 14th FINA World Championships in Shanghai from 24 to 31 Jul 11.

Officiated as one of the Referee during the Swimming World Cup held in Singapore from 4 to 5 Nov 2011

Conducted a FINA Clinic for Nepal Swimming Association from 28th Apr to 2 May 2013

Conduct FINA Clinic for UAE Swimming Federation, Dubai 7 to 9 Apr 2014.
